On “All I Want is You,” Lark sets off on a long-awaited, carefree joyride with her lover.
The Australian indie-pop artist has made her mark in her own country and Europe — her first single, “Unicorn,” earned the #1 spot on the Euro Indie Music Chart in 2023. She’s gone on to release a handful of Europop-inspired tracks and her latest, “All I Want is You,” sees the singer at her most upbeat and dancefloor-ready.
“The song is about missing someone so much and that sense of urgency to finally be together,” the singer explains.
As soon as her partner comes home after a long journey away, the two take a spin through a neon city, the night electric with energy.
“Riding on the bassline / Nothing but a dash light / We're on fire baby, keep it burning all night,” Lark’s passionate and melodic voice chants.
The catchy hook is reminiscent of Europop bangers of the early 00s; “Cry For You” by Swedish dance act September comes to mind.
The song’s fresh and cutting synths mesh with the entrancing pulse of the bassline, cultivating a fun, club-classic vibe. Lark’s vivid imagery of racing through the energetic city with her love — “running red lights” and “crossing state lines” — plays up the adventurous spirit that inspired her to write the song in the first place.
“I may or may not have envisioned myself being in the Fast and the Furious while I was writing this song,” she jokes.
“All I Want is You” shows Lark having fun with her Swedish pop-influenced version of indie, creating a triumphant, intoxicating track that will transport you to a 2000s-era Euro Dance club as soon as you press play.
