For the record, bennytheghost takes admiration from musicians Gorillaz and JOJI.

"I take massive inspiration from JOJI, whose songs are also incredibly dramatic and heartbreaking, while his character is so goofy, aloof, mysterious, and funny," bennytheghost said. "A dichotomy that houses those two opposites is compelling; that’s where I want to live."

Comprising an electrifying rock-meets-pop production with an A24 horror flair, "Animal" sheds light on energy vampires who strive to "shrink you down to your bones." Moreso, bennytheghost and KiNG MALA express how every day seems like a battle as they navigate today's self-centered and money-hungry society. The following lyrics call out these individuals who are so fixated on glitz and glam. "You're just an animal/You want money/You crave sophistication but/You're just an animal."

Elsewhere in "Animal," bennytheghost and KiNG MALA speak about trying to adjust to the new customs that others seem to follow. However, they refuse to adopt the selfish mindset that these people have. Lyrics like "I'm just a little uptight/The more that I try/The more that I lose my mind/I think I've broken my eyes/'Cause I can't see the light," takes the narrative home.
